There are three different words used in the bible that we, in the modern age, sum up by using one word SIN. Sin in all forms is defined as "missing the mark". What is the mark? great question. The mark is alignment with God. Our goal is to follow God's ways. When we take our eyes off of him and make choices that do not reflect things that he would do. We are missing the mark of being like him. Sin is not a list of rules, it is a condition of the heart. Is your heart set on God? Fully surrendered to trusting him and his ways?

Sin is not more powerful than the love of God. Meaning, if sin creeps in, with his help, we can readjust and set our lives back on our desire to be in alignment with him. He forgives us for our looking away, our missing of the mark.

More important than understanding sin is the understanding that God is perfect in his love for us. More than we could ever understand. We do not have to be prefect, because he is perfect. But because of his love for us we trust that his ways lead us to righteousness, peace, and joy.
